Scrapbooking Challenge: Make a Layout Using Old Photos

Hello everyone!  Here’s a challenge for you:  find one of your old photos and scrap them using your stash of current Gossamer Blue kits!

I was cleaning my room the other day and I found a set of my old photos from 2013.  They were from a family vacation we took to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary.  Can’t believe how I didn’t scrap such an important event in our lives!  So I decided to use these photos and update them a bit using my June Scrapbook kit.

I went through the supplies and looked for seafoam colored embellishments to match the photos.  I used to avoid using chipboard because I found them bulky but now I realize that they add dimension to the layout.  Chipboard stickers are also perfect for use in a Traveler’s Notebook which can withstand their bulkiness.

The kit also came with this beautiful ticket themed scrapbook paper.  I cut the tickets out to use as ephemera.

There are 2 things I learned from this old photo challenge.  One, using your Gossamer Blue kits can help you create a layout that is current and modern no matter how old your photos are.   Two, scrapping old photos is a fun way to reminisce about the happy moments from the past.

Thank you!

Book Journaling with GB Kits

Hello everyone!  When you check the hashtag #illustratedfaith on Instagram, you’ll see a community of people documenting their faith inside their journaling bibles using scrapbook and craft supplies.  I’ve been feeling so inspired by what they have been doing, so I decided to apply the same technique using one of my favorite books, The Happiness of Pursuit by Chris Guillebeau.

I read this book last year and I loved it!   I wanted to creatively document some of my takeaway learnings from the book.

One of the best supplies to use for writing down quotes is an alphabet sticker sheet.  You may also opt to use a set of acrylic stamps or a label maker.

My past Gossamer Blue kits had a lot of ephemera that I could use for decoration.  I especially loved this set from the May kits that contained lots of flowers.

Documenting my takeaways from the book helps me to remember them better and be creative at the same time.   Hope you can try it too!

Neftali’s Layout with the June Planner Kit

Hello GB subscribers and lovers! I hope you have all been having a great day. I am excited to be back this month to show you how you can take your Planner Kit and use it to make a super cute layout that you can add to your planner or simply keep as a layout.

First of all, I was so impressed to see how fun and decorative this month’s Planner Kit is. If you haven’t checked it out, the June Planner Kit carries the cutest summer theme and the stickers and ephemera pieces are filled to the brim with tiny little icons and fun summer shapes. I knew instantly that I had to create a layout with all of these fun pieces!

So, I started off with an 8 ½ x 11 sheet and decided to create a fun grid center focus to my page using the patterned papers. There are four in the kit and I made sure to put them together. Aren’t they so pretty? For two of the patterned paper squares I added a bit of dimension by backing it with tissue paper.

My photo was a Polaroid Instax photo I took of my son during a trip to the beach last year. I thought that the icons in the kits would go perfect with the colors in the photo. So I adhered it to the center of the grid and backed it with some tissue paper and dimensional adhesive to add some fun to it. I always love including my instax shots, so this had me super excited!

The next part was the fun part, of course! I went into the puffy stickers that were part of the kit and the ephemera pack and I simply picked out what stood out most to me and decorated all around my photo. I kind of created a fun little beach scene above my photo with some cute clouds and a puffy sun sticker.

The left side of the photo was filled with a mix of puffy stickers and ephemera pieces. It’s just so much cuteness! Finally, I created my title by using a word phrase sticker from the stickers sheet included in the kit and a fun puffy sticker that says “Relax”. As a final detail I added some odd stitching around the papers to connect it all together and ground it to my page.

That’s it for my layout! It came together so easily thanks to all the awesome pieces included in this month’s Planner Kit. Now, when I say that this kit is filled with so much goodness I am not kidding! That’s the beauty of this kit, it can totally be used for scrapping and planning or both!

I hope you have recieved your kits and that your creative juices are flowing so you can make your own summer themed planner spreads or layouts.

I mean, it is that time of the year already, can you believe it? Summer is upon us and in the Gossamer Blue Kits! Thanks for stopping by the blog today, and I will see you all next month. Xo.
