Hello crafty peeps, it’s Diane, sharing a fun layout with the July kits.
I loved the “Oh My Stars” pocket card in the Life Pages kit and wanted to use it for the title of my layout along with a star theme.
To keep the photo the focus of the layout, I used white and subdued colors for the stars by punching and die cutting white card stock, vellum and a selection of patterned paper from the Traveler’s Notebook and Scrapbook kit. For a little added interest I used the negative space of some stars to create thin lined stars and added machine stitching to some of the larger stars.
I placed my photo in the bottom center of my page and randomly arranged the stars in the open spaces completely filling in the background, leaving room at the bottom of my photo for the title, which I cut out from the pocket card.
For just a little bling I added the gold star stickers. I like how it contrasts with the white layout.
I hope this inspires you to make a monochromatic layout with a pop of color. It’s a wonderful way to let the colors of your photo be the star of the show.
