Gossamer Blue

My Favorite Technique With Gail

Hello! I’m so excited to be here today with my first blog post for Gossamer Blue! I’m so lucky as I had three kits to create with: the scrapbook kit, the life pages kit and the NEW planner kit!

First and foremost – I’m a scrapbooker and memory keeper so I mainly used the scrapbook kit for my layout today. I did add in just a few embellishments and extras from the other kits . . . I couldn’t resist!

And since it is my very first time sharing my work for Gossamer Blue, I thought I’d create a layout that showed off a bit of my style!

You see, I love my clean white backgrounds, I love adding a border of patterned paper to my layout and I love adding bright pops of color and clusters of embellishments! I decided to keep my layout quite simple, and use one of my current favorite techniques: adding fringe!

I grabbed a few of the patterned papers from the scrapbook kit and my fringing scissors and cut several strips just over an inch wide. I then arranged them on my background and added a row of machine stitching through the top of each one.

I added my photo to the right side of the layout and layered it with patterned paper, vellum (from my stash) and embellished with a tab, label and a few other stickers to create a nice feature.

The photo is a selfie of my husband and I from last year – one of the only photos I found of us together recently! I really need to improve on that this year!

For the title, I used the black alphabet stickers from the scrapbook kit also. The simplicity of the style of alphabet suited the simplicity of my layout perfectly.

I finished off my layout with a few flicks of mist, some typed journaling and a sprinkling of embellishments and enamel dots!

I thoroughly enjoyed creating a layout about my husband and I for once, instead of our kids! Can anyone relate??

Until next time on the blog, be sure to check out my other projects from this month’s kits in the gallery as well as the HUGE amount of inspiration from the whole amazing team!
