Hi Everyone! Emily here! Happy Friday, and welcome to the second edition of “Pinspired with Gossamer Blue Challenge.” The second Friday of every month I will share a layout or two made with the current kit that was inspired by something I discovered on Pinterest. Are you ready for the best part? At the end of each post, I will challenge YOU to create a Pinspired project for the chance to win a $10 gift certificate to the Gossamer Blue store!
This month I created two Pinspired inspired layouts with my March kit. The first is a quick and easy layout with a title that I blatantly stole from a piece of art I had pinned on my “Words” pinboard!
I have a confession – I steal titles from Pinterest all the time. I feel like my own titles are always pretty boring and a little too obvious! 😉 Sometimes when I can’t think of something fitting for a set of photos, I turn to Pinterest for help! This particular title was just perfect for this series of my silly daughter dancing!
Because there are so many photos on this layout, I didn’t want it to be too busy. I backed it on white, used minimal patterned paper, and tried to place all my “stuff” in a semi-organized manner around the photos! The black alphabet stickers worked well to draw attention to my title.
A beautiful quilt on my “Fabric” pinboard was the inspiration for my second Pinspired layout. The chevron trend has been around for a while now, and as soon as I saw this gorgeous quilt I knew the design could be transferred to a layout.

This layout was a little more time consuming than the first. I used different strips of paper to create the chevron effect on top of my newsprint base page. Once I created my first set of chevron strips, I used them as a guide for cutting all the rest so that they would have the correct angles. I used Scotch tape to tape my strip sets together before trimming to save time. I would not have had the patience to trim every single one! I wasn’t super picky about the strips being perfect. If you look closely you’ll notice the typing on one strip is even upside down. Oh well! 😉 It definitely makes for an “authentic” look!
Now it’s your turn! Are you ready to be challenged? This month I again have two Pinspired challenge options for you!
1) Create a layout or other project with the word AWESOME somewhere in it!
2) Create a layout or other project inspired by a quilt on Pinterest. It can, but does not have to be the chevron quilt pictured here.
Post a link to your creation in the comments of this post by Friday, March 15th for the change to win a $10 gift card to the store. One winner will be chosen at random. If you choose Challenge #2, be sure to include a link to your original inspiration piece. I can’t wait to see what you all create!
