Gossamer Blue

Pinspired with Gossamer Blue Challenge

Hi Everyone!  Emily here!  Happy Friday, and welcome to the first ever “Pinspired with Gossamer Blue Challenge.”  The second Friday of every month I will share a layout or two made with the current kit that was inspired by something I discovered on Pinterest.  Are you ready for the best part?  At the end of each post, I will challenge YOU to create a Pinspired project for the chance to win a $10 gift card to the store.  I know you’ll be up for the challenge!!

This month two of my gallery layouts were Pinspired.  The first was my February main-kit-only layout, “New Year’s Eve.”  I was inspired by this fun and creative Valentine’s Day card:

I love the how the large hearts are imperfectly placed and fall off the page. I used my Lori Whitlock cut files to mimic this look on my page, only on a much larger scale. I enlarged one of the hearts and let it hang off the edge of the left side of my paper.

The second Pinspired layout I created was my “Love” layout.  I have an entire pinterest page devoted to art and graphic design.  It is one of my favorite boards to visit for layout inspiration. I came across this simple, but fun graphic design piece and knew it could translate perfectly into a layout:

Because I scrapbook 8.5×11, it is not as easy to create a perfect grid as it would be for a 12×12 layout. My squares were 2 and 1/8th inches. Originally the entire layout was a grid, all the way down to the bottom, with a piece of ribbon covering the small gap between the bottom two rows (because while 2 and 1/8th goes into 8.5 evenly, it does not go into 11 evenly, leaving me with a small empty space). However, after placing the picture and the title on the layout, I decided the full grid was a bit too much pattern, and I ended up replacing the bottom squares with a more solid piece of paper. I considered adding some journaling to the bottom, but I liked how the simple bottom evened out the fairly busy top half.

Are you ready to be challenged? This month I have two Pinspired challenge options for you!

1)   Create a layout inspired by a card – any card. It could be, but does not have to be, the Valentine’s card featured in this post.

2)   Create a layout or other project inspired by the Propogandism grid piece featured here.

Post a link to your creation in the comments of this post by Friday, February 15th  for the chance to win $10 gift card to the store.  One winner will be chosen at random. If you choose Challenge #1, be sure to include a link to your original inspiration piece. I can’t wait to see what you all create!
